The power of a lab

Thursday, August 24, 2006
I got an email today that was pretty amazing and touching to read. It was from a women in India and she was telling her tale of being a lab owner. Her lab shadow was stricken by cancer and reached the third stage in a matter of months and he passed away in May of 2005, (euthansia) he was just 2.5 years old. What a sad story to read about. Anyways the reason I am telling you is her email also told how blogs like this one helped her heal. Reading about other labs and their lives helped her cry away the pain and move on in life. "it has helped fill the hole in my soul and helped me cry and release the grief locked up inside my heart." She sent me a clipping that she wrote for a local pet magazine as well and I will post it for all of you to read. It is quiet touching. Shadow looked like a great dog. Thank you for writing us and telling us about how the blog has helped you heal. I enjoy writing and working on this blog everyday and it is amazing to reach out to someone on the other side of the world. Who knew a simpe lab like Bosco could have such power. Here is the clipping. So remember loving your lab and telling others about it has a power that is unmeasurable.

Bosco must like the 80's

No I do not mean the Bangles or Cindi Lauper, I mean his weight! Just came back from a vet weigh in and Bosco continues to shed the pounds and is now down to 82.6lbs. Way to go Chocolate man. Must be all the extra walks and runs he gets due to nicer weather. The real challenge is when the cold weather sets in and us humans are not that into long walks. Bosco you are an example to all dogs that hard work and a strict diet can pay off. As Bette Midler said, you are the winds beneath my wings.

Is Bosco a wizard?

Monday, August 21, 2006
This past weekend Bosco made us question whether or not he has magical powers. In our kitchen there is a walk way betweeen the island and where the door to the basement is. It is not that used so we tend to keep the recycling there and Mercy's food. Bosco goes through stages of eating the cats food even though he knows he should not. To try and stop this we put two bar stools in the way so the cat can get through but Bosco cannot. This works most times because Bosco can't get by without knocking something over and that usually scares him enough to not try So on Saturday when I was at work I get an email from Katie saying that she went into the kitchen and the cat food was gone, the stools were not moved and Bosco was stuck on the other side, confused how to get out. Now Bosco is not a delicate guy and knocks over everything with his size so we have no idea how he got by the stools without moving them. All we can come up with is that he is magic! Funny how the same trick did not work for him to get out but hey that is a lab for yah! So smart one second and super dumb the next. Just like a typical user of magic Bosco will not share his tricks or secrets either, guess this one will get filed under unsolved mysteries for now. Anyone else have any tales they can't figure out?

Keep an eye out

Bosco will be featured on the Grown-up Puppies page on August 31st. You may remember he donned the Puppies page way back on December 17th and did very well. We would love your votes again and go check out both pages, they are very well done and the dogs are very cute.

Cross-promotion

Since there is little news in the Bosco world today I thought I would mention my new blog, Cuzoogle that I got going yesterday. It is not really new but the layout and address is. I have been using MSN spaces for over a year and I finally got tired of it and how ugly and busy they make it look. So please check out Cuzoogle and let me know what you think. Bosco does make it on their from time to time but it is really about everything else about me and my day to day life. Thanks and have a great day.

Car adventure

Monday, August 14, 2006
Today I threw Bosco in the back seat and we headed to Point Pleasant Park for a nice, sunny walk. I know for a fact that Boss had a good time since he slept all afternoon and really only got up to eat. Here are some shots from the trip.

Bosco wants to apologize

Well I looked at the numbers for the last few days and the readers have spoken! Hardly any views and I must assume it is due to the lack of new content as of late. Bosco and I would like to say we are sorry for being pretty boring this week. That should change now that I am off for five days! A few adventures are in store for Bosco and of course I will be telling you all about it on the blog of course. Let me try and think of any kind of news to make your visit worth it today. Bosco has been being a bad boy from time to time, eating the cat food when he fully well knows he should not. He goes through spells of not doing it just long enough to lull us into a false sense of security and then bam! Poor Mercy goes hungry sometimes and it is not fair. Here is what Mercy should learn how to do. Cat And Dog - video powered by Metacafe Anyone else have the problem of dogs and cats sharing a kitchen floor for their food?? In the anniversary department, we are under a month now until the three year mark of when I picked up Bosco at the breeder. Three years, wow. Well that is all I can really think of at the moment but I do promise for a more lively week so please keep coming back.

Slow week

Everybody is back to work after a summer vacation. Lots of nap time for Bosco.

A Bosco wrap up for the week

Tuesday, August 08, 2006
It has been a busy week and since the weather is gloomy in Halifax today it seems the perfect time to catch everyone up on all that is Bosco and chocolateeee. Blog explosion Just wanted to say thanks again for the amount of traffic and popularity this blog is getting. The last two or three weeks it has grown quite a bit and I love the regulars who check often. Bosco would snuggle you if he could to say thanks. Bosco and the car choice Katie and I recently (this past weekend) bought a car and when we were debating our choices and letting the dealer do his thing it turned out Bosco had a say it what we ended up driving off the lot. As we checked out and test drove car after car I mentioned whatever we got had to fit a Bosco. The dealer instantly said I have the car for you and that others had purchased this car because of their pup. He showed us a 2005 Chevy Malibu Max and that is what we ended up getting. Now we got it because we liked it and it fit everything we wanted but I find it funny that we may of never saw it if it had not been for bringing up Bosco. The first car trip We took Bosco to Crystal Cresent Beach yesterday and he loved it. Running around on the sand, swimming in the ocean and smelling all that see air. He slept like a log last night that is for sure. Bosco says two paws up for the car. Keeping the weight down Just took him to the vet for a weigh in and he tipped the scales at 84 lbs. Way to keep the pounds off buddy. Older doggies need a spotlight too Bosco's buddy is featured today on the Grownup Puppies site. Looking cool Monty. Chatting is fun Glad to see everyone is enjoying the new chat box down the right side of the page. I have been having issues with the posting of comments so please be patient. Happy Birthday Sarah My sister turned 30 today, Bosco wanted to wish her a great day. Okay that is all for today.........go have fun with your dogs today!
